About the artist
"The more I paint the more of myself I discover"
Veronica Perez is an art teacher and artist. She is a native of Rincon, Puerto Rico, currently residing in the Washington DC Metro Area since 1999. Her artistic interests varies from photography, sculpture, ceramics and painting. She enjoys theater and performances. She helps to create backdrops, costumes and make up for her students' class plays at the school were she teaches art.
Nature is a strong motivating factor in her work. Her work is influenced by her desire to give form to her reality in correlation with the environment that surrounds her. She likes to travel and take pictures of people of different cultures and backgrounds. She uses photography as a way to collect information, that she will later incorporate in her work. The artist enjoys celebrating different cultures and finding new meanings of her life through her work and a diversity of human experiences and interactions. She believes that art is therapeutic and uses the creative process for personal healing and relaxation.
